[ORACLE] Article is Stressing my Google-Fu [message #294775] Mi, 05 Juli 2006 23:13

I am trying to help someone locate the following:

Scala, Keith. "Mike Mars, Man or Myth?" Quest; The History of Spaceflight
Quarterly, Volume 6, Number 1, Spring 1998.

I have found it at http://www.spacebusiness.com/quest/back.htm but at $40
plus $20 shipping, it's a bit steep. Anyone know of a library that actually
has the bloody thing?

You should be able to get a copy via inter-library loan (assuming
some library does have it, of course).

That's the think....OhioLink says no, and the Library of Congress ILL
program doesn't have it either.

Let the ILL people at your library worry about finding it; that's what
they do.

On the other hand, if you go here:

http://www.spacebusiness.com/quest/back.htm

it says that back issues are $10, including shipping. The $40 thing is
for an 8-issue grab bag, and the $20 shipping is for outside North
America.

Yes, thanks. I went back and looked it over carefully, because I realized I
couldn't pin down the price for a single issue.

It's intended to go to England--that's why I was looking at the outside US
shipping. Time and price ae fairly important, so I was really hoping for a
full text version in a research database somewhere. God knows libraries pay
enough for subscriptions to things like JSTOR, and it comes out of incresed
tuition.

I've realized that telling people where you've already looked is critical to
the ORACLE process. :-)

My first try resulted in a fwded e-mail to the author, who may or may not be
able to provide an e-copy, and who may or may not respond at all. That was a
lucky shot, but is a hit/miss affair, whereas the pay your $20 is a slow but
sure thing. $20 for a single article makes me cringe, with my budget,
although I have upped $12 for something I needed very badly.
